MORE than 60 volunteer-based organisations, active in the greater Canberra region, will showcase volunteering opportunities at Canberra Volunteers’ Day 2008 on Sunday, May 18.
This keynote event, at the hotel realm, Barton, from 10am to 3pm, during National Volunteer Week, will include organisations that focus on children, youth and the elderly, to health and illness, overseas development, environment and animals, and national institutions.
Whether you are interested in being involved from home or online, to lending a helping hand in the community, or even assisting in outback Australia or overseas, this is the event to find out how easy it is to become involved.

National Volunteer Week is held from May 12-18. This year’s theme is “Volunteers Change Our World”.
Volunteering Australia CEO, Cary Pedicini, said that many Australians deserve a pat on the back: “National Volunteer Week is a time we reflect on the amazing contribution volunteers make to their local communities and say thank you for their efforts.
