ITALIAN brand, Smeg, has harnessed the talents of cutting-edge designers to transform the design and function of ovens, cook tops, dishwashers and microwaves.
Smeg now has dishwashers that are 900mm wide by 560mm deep; installed at waist height, they combine water-saving dishwashing technology with the ergonomics of “stoop-free” loading and unloading.
The STH905 features 10 wash programs, houses 12 place settings and uses 12.6 litres of water for a full load ($2990).
There are compact dual and triple-function ovens that combine convection baking with microwave cooking and fan-forced grilling. They come in both the stainless steel Canali design SA45MCX ($3090), and the linear styling of the SCA45MCX ($3190).
Smeg’s 770mm four-heat, zone-induction cook top recognises pan sizes and adjusts accordingly, conserving energy by heating only the area required. The SE284ID ($3590) has two adjacent cooking zones that can become one to accommodate larger cooking vessels such as fish kettles.
The semi-commercial CSA150X upright cooker ($14,990) features both a 600mm and a 900mm multi-function oven, seven burners including two wok burners and a griddle with stainless-steel drip tray and volcanic-rock base.
New Smeg rangehoods include the cylindrical KASC505 and IS505 and the box-shaped K508 (from $1690 to $2190) in satin stainless steel with halogen lights.
