POPULAR television music presenter Fuzzy is coming to Canberra to help headline discussions on what’s hot in science.
Called “Hot Innovation” it’s at the National Convention Centre on Wednesday, August 20.
“Hot Innovation” is but one attraction in the galaxy of events in the 2008 Australian Science Festival that will be held at venues across Canberra until August 24.
“I am totally amazed at how much there is on offer at the Australian Science Festival,” Fuzzy tells “CityNews” in an exclusive interview from her Sydney digs.
“I hope that I can help people get excited about seeking a future in science, perhaps land management, or forestry which are interests of mine, too.”
Fuzzy will be joined on the “Hot Innovation” panel by Blake Harahush, who studies the movement of sharks; young ecologist Lyndsey Vivian; Matthew Brookhouse, the recent winner of a 2007 DAFF science and innovation award; and 2007 WA Young Australian of the Year Darren Lomma, head of the Dreamfit Foundation, a student-based organisation, fulfilling extraordinary dreams for people with disabilities.
Fuzzy, one of the hottest young presenting talents in Australia, has had a fantastic career run since joining Channel Ten’s “Video Hits” over two years ago.
“‘Video Hits’ has a strong impact on kids and a large young viewing audience so, hopefully, they’ll enjoy seeing me! I do hope that it works – we’ll have a chat, a bit of laugh and keep it all bubbling along,” she says.
“I studied media at the University of Melbourne, I also studied geography, a passion of mine as well, so I have always had a great love for science.”
“Hot Innovation” is on Wednesday, August 20, at the National Convention Centre from 11am. The 2008 Australian Science Festival will be held August 16 to 24. Full program at http://www.sciencefestival.com.
