Local arts identity mourned
Published in News on 31 July, 2008

ARTS and community organisations are in mourning after respected community cultural development officer Jan Wawrzynczak died suddenly in Canberra Hospital from complications while recovering from a motorcycle accident.
For more than 35 years, Wawrzynczak worked in a variety of different artistic endeavours – as an actor, director, writer, company manager and as one of Canberra’s most sought after lighting designers. More recently he was in charge of the arts and culture programs for the Belconnen Community Service.
His previous major roles included manager of the Canberra Youth Theatre and the ACT’s multicultural arts officer.
He moved to Canberra in 2001. He is survived by his wife Anni Doyle Wawrzynczak, son Tristan and Stepson Callum Doyle-Scott.
Mr Wawrzynczak’s funeral will be at Norwood Park crematorium at midday, Saturday, August 2.
