New wheels for the saint of soup
Published in News on 14 August, 2008

STASIA Dabrowski from local charity The Soup Kitchen is presented with the keys to a new vehicle (purchased with the help of Canberra Toyota) by Deputy Chief Minister Katy Gallagher. The energetic 82-year-old, who runs The Soup Kitchen every Friday evening in Garema Place, Civic, is a well- known and recognised Canberran who has been providing soup, blankets and love to Canberra’s homeless and hungry since 1979. The ACT Government bought the new van through its Community Services Program.  “Homelessness is a whole-of-community issue, so the responses and support for people experiencing homelessness and disadvantage must come from the whole community,” Ms Gallagher said.
