INTERIOR design, lifestyle trends and technology are continuously evolving the kitchen.
Gone are the days of pokey little kitchens in a separate room close to the dining area. The kitchen is now the hub of the home – the meeting place for families, couples and friends.
This trend has transformed kitchen design, drawing the kitchen into the living space; a new trend towards easy living and harmonious design, making the kitchen a soothing place to spend time in.
Generally, in an open-plan living and dining setting, this exposed position has placed great importance on the look and function of the kitchen.
Harmonious design lends itself to a practical kitchen utilising all available space and incorporating the best technology.
Little nooks and exposed shelving is very much out, preferring out-of-sight storage and integrated appliances.
This alleviates extra cleaning and accumulation of dust, leaving more time for the pleasures of cooking and to relax with friends and family.
Complete integration of appliances is a key to styling – having the cooktop, oven, range hood, dishwasher and fridge all matching, more than likely coming from the same range.
Gas is far more popular than electric cooktops, with its visual and practical appeal for the fervent cook.
