Amanda Bresnan
The Greens, Brindabella
What’s your background?
I’m the acting director of policy and projects for the Mental Health Council of Australia. I’ve worked with women’s refugee and human rights groups in the ACT. I’ve lived in Canberra for six years since moving from Queensland.
Why do you want to be a politician?
I’m passionate about social justice and community health issues and I want to do my part to ensure that the ACT addresses them.
What do you stand for?
I stand for a government that listens and makes decisions based on real consultation with the community, a government that involves people at the grass-roots level.
What will be the key election issues?
As we face a future of expensive petrol and climate change, one key election issue will be public transport. Community consultation will be another important issue. The government should not ignore community concerns on issues such as the power station and data centre, the airport curfew, land development, and school closures.
Why should we vote for you?
I’m standing for election because The Greens are committed to long-term, positive solutions for Canberra.
