DESPITE the killer nip in the air, there is something nice and cosy about the whole winter thing. So, I have decided to just go with the flow and get into all things woollen, knitted, fluffy and warm.
For example, I have heard about these great wearable blankets I’m now on the hunt for.  They have sleeves in them, but otherwise they are just like your very own blankie that you can mooch around the house in, tuck over yourself while you are watching TV or reading in bed.
I’ve just invested in an amazingly comfy pair of “ugg boot cross Crocs” which I love wearing so much I’m wondering if I could pass them off at work as smart casual or at least keep them under the desk and sneak them on in the late afternoon when it’s getting chilly.
And I am still searching for a new fluffy hot water bottle cover and, despite our very efficient central heating, a new electric blanket would be a good idea.
Curiously, my children don’t seem to feel the cold at all. I have yet to hear their little milk teeth chattering. The five-year-old repeatedly refuses to wear a coat because he says he’s just too hot while the two-year-old hates anything tucked in and often manages to have her little potbelly trendily exposed to the icy elements.
Despite not appearing to feel the cold, their hands and feet always feel freezing. Every morning they jump into bed with me and their icy little feet and hands drive me screaming from under the blankets.
Still, winter does have a lot to offer comfort-seeking, shopaholic homebodies like me; it’s not like spring won’t come again and in no time we will be sweltering over Christmas and migrating en mass down to the south coast. So, meantime, I’m just going to settle under my blankets, sip my hot chocolate and enjoy the chill.
