Wonderful ‘Wanted’
Published in Lifestyle - Arts & Entertainment on 14 August, 2008

“Wanted”
MA, 108 minutes.
Reviewed by Vic Rebikoff

AT the outset of “Wanted”, bored office worker Wesley Gibson (James McAvoy) appears to be a no-hope loser.
That is, until he meets the sexy Fox (Angelina Jolie), a member of a secret society of assassins called the Fraternity, who train Gibson so that he can avenge the death of his father. He turns his life around and soon learns that the organisation is not exactly what it seems.
Russian-born film director Timur Bekmambetov has spent only a short time making English movies, yet he has made a big impact with this one; it features a great storyline and uses incredible special effects (similar in style to those used in the “Matrix”) to deliver a range of amazing action scenes-especially those featuring Jolie and McAvoy.
“Wanted” is a mind-blowing movie experience using “Matrix”-style special effects to deliver a series of fast-action scenes – orchestrated mainly by Jolie – that make this film enjoyable and entertaining.

Verdict: Mind blowing. 8 out of 10.
