Message: FAMILIES with kids, fashionistas, racing fans and those attending Christmas parties all enjoyed a day out at the Canberra Cup. According to Thoroughbred Park’s Briony Young, more than 6000 Canberrans attended. “We had a lot of kids enjoying the rides, a lot of people came to celebrate Christmas, everyone enjoyed dancing to Annie and the Armadillos and the fashions were elegant and sophisticated,” she says. The Fashions on the Field competition was hotly contested, with Emily Henderson, of Fisher, taking out the Classic Ladies’ Racewear section, and Tanya Lazaron, of Lyons, named Miss Racegoer. Holder’s Daniel Bray won the Classic Men’s section, while Classic Couples was won by Matt Gair and Lara Pasfield, of Jerrabomberra. Fashions on the Field was judged by 2008 Myer Face of Canberra Racing Elkie Stuart, Mix 106.3’s Lisa Ridgley and Myer’s Karla Groom. http://www.citynews.com.au/index.php/big_cheers_for_cup_day/
